Exclusion means a child has been barred from attending his or her school by the Head teacher. The exclusion is likely to have followed a particularly serious incident or a series of incidents. There are two types of exclusion:
- Fixed term - a child is barred from attending school for a set number of days
- Permanent - a child has been permanently barred from attending the school
The type of exclusion and the reasons for it will be set out in a letter sent to the parent / guardian from the Head teacher. Information about exclusions can be found in the Tips Booklet 3 which you can download and view a copy of from the Related Documents panel.
