Regeneration

Providing opportunities for jobs, start up businesses and residents by creating well paid, year round employment, increasing the skills base and helping existing firms to expand.  Our aim is to drive forward activities around Enterprise Agencies and major regeneration project developments including Torquay Waterfront, Brixham Regeneration, Hele Community Centre and the Business Incubation Service.

The overall aims of the Regeneration Unit are to:

  • Encourage local business growth and diversity.
  • Promote the area to attract new and sustainable investment.
  • Maximise funding opportunities to assist infrastructure development.
  • Leading in the regeneration of our towns

The Regeneration Unit manages a property portfolio which includes a range of open storage sites and business units to encourage new and existing businesses into the area.  In addition we maintain a property database which provides information on the range of properties available in Torbay whatever type of business you are in.

The Council encourages both competition and sustainability in all areas of the local economy. In other areas of our work the Unit actively promotes the area and offers business development and support, and attempts to remove barriers to investment where possible.

Local residents and communities also focus heavily in the work of the Unit and we are keen to encourage improvements to the local physical infrastructure and services. Support is given to local community groups in the form of advice and information.
