About Torbay Together
Torbay Council and other public services in Torbay, are dedicated to delivering top quality and value for money services, to every section of the community, but we need your help to ensure what we provide meets your needs and aspirations.
The Government has placed greater importance on local authorities working more closely with partners such as health (Torbay Care Trust), Police and Fire & Rescue. By working together we can deliver services more efficiently for residents and achieve better value for money.
This partnership working is seen as fundamental to tackling key issues for local people. The range of public services provided by Torbay Council and its partners across Torbay is immense. The list of services includes roads, public transport, social care and support for young people, older people and those with disabilities, education, schools, libraries, rubbish collection and disposal, recycling services, housing, health and wellbeing, trading standards, environmental health, emergency planning, fire and police services. You name it and a public sector service is involved in providing it!
Working in partnership with organisations is not a new concept for Torbay Council. We have worked together with partner organisations for a number of years and have developed close working ties with colleagues to help shape better communities. There are so many different initiatives that partnerships and services can support each other and work together on – so we welcome this opportunity to develop these relationships further.
Partners are looking at how they can work more efficiently and improve value for money. This new way of partnership working will look at how much money is currently being spent by all public sectors organisations and non departmental bodies across Torbay. It will look at how resources internally and externally can be pooled to avoid duplication, to ultimately deliver improved and better value for money services.
During September 2008, we carried out ‘The
Place Survey’ to find out what you think of living in your local area and the services that Torbay Council and it partners provide. The survey told us a story about how our services are received by residents, what they are happy with and what they would like to see done differently. It also tells us more about the way we need to work together to tackle issues and helps us develop and improve what we already do.
Torbay Together is about maximising the resources we have and making an already beautiful place the best it can possibly be.
