Brixham Town Plan
Why Produce a Town / Parish Plan?
As part of its policy of 'active citizenship' the Government wants to give more power to local people to decide what's best for their own communities. If we as a community can show that we are taking our future seriously, a Town / Parish Plan will provide the evidence to help inform policymaking by a range of organisations, from the local planning authority to police and health services. It will also help to develop and maintain effective working relationships with outside bodies that provide services to our community, now or in the future.
Parish and Community Plans, with enthusiasm and determination, can make things happen in our community.
Brixham Town Council and The Community Partnership are commencing a Brixham Town Plan which will be a document that contains the aspirations, goals and requirements of the entire town. The whole community is to be involved in producing the plan, not just those people who attend Town Council or Community Partnership meetings.
A questionnaire was sent to all Brixham residents in July / August 2008 and from the returned questionnaires, and after a delay due to time constraints, the results have now been published (see
Related Documents).
A further public consultation event was organised and following the results of this, the Brixham Town Design Statement was produced.
Town Design Statement
The Brixham Town Design Statement has been drawn up from responses to the 2008 questionnaire and an open event in the Scala Hall. This core document covers future development in Brixham and how the people of the town would like to see it happen.
This a core document and is now out for consultation and closes on 1 September 2010 (see
Related Documents).
The steering group would like your comments on the Design Statement before it goes to final print and is put to Torbay Council to form guidance to the
Local Development Framework.
Please click on the following link to download the questionnaire. All comments are welcome.
The questionnaire needs to be returned to Brixham Town Council either by email or to the offices. Details of which can be found under the Contact Us heading on the right hand side of this page.
