Big Tidy Up

On 1 September 2008 the national Big Tidy Up campaign will be launched and residents, businesses, schools and other groups within Torbay are being encouraged to get together and take part in a community clean up in their local area.

This year the Big Tidy Up is sponsored by the new Disney PIXAR movie WALL.E, which tells the story of a lonely but busy little robot (a Waste Allocated Load Lifter Earth Class). Posters featuring WALL.E have been put up around Torbay and it is hoped will encourage young people to take part in a local environmental clean up activity.

The national Big Tidy Up provides a great opportunity for local people to join together and take practical steps to improve the appearance of their community. Torbay is a beautiful place to live and work but like most places it has a few areas which could do with a good clear up. The Big Tidy Up in September provides Torbay with another chance to build on the existing experience we have in the area of arranging successful and fun community clean up events.

Whilst the national campaign is called the Big Tidy Up, local events can range in size from great to small.

For further information about the Big Tidy Up, to find an event near you and to register your own event, visit The Big Tidy Up website.

For those arranging a local event who would like to discuss the removal of any waste collected as a result, or would like the council’s environmental crime busting duo the Bay Team to attend, please contact Community Protection are contact details are on the right of this page.
