Did you know that Torbay produces nearly 2000 tonnes of carbon dioxide EVERY DAY? In fact Torbay’s carbon emissions over the course of a week would fill the area under the roof of Wembley Stadium 6 times! Carbon dioxide is the most common greenhouse gas and is the most significant contributor to climate change. For more information on the impacts of climate change on Torbay visit the Climate Change pages.
However, through Torbay residents making smarter choices in their daily routines (playing the trump card) the carbon footprint of Torbay can be reduced significantly. Furthermore, by playing your part to reduce your carbon footprint, you can often save money, keep fit and healthy and improve the quality of your life.
Top Trumps is a community campaign running for 12 months. During this time different carbon saving themes will be promoted to the Torbay public, showing how choosing the “trump card” when making choices in your daily life can help you to save money and importantly save carbon dioxide emissions, in turn playing your part to reduce Torbay’s contribution to climate change and look after the environment of Torbay.
Information on the different themes will be added every month as the Top Trump cards appear in Torbay. Look out for them around the Bay and visit these web pages for information and advice on how you can do your bit to help combat climate change.
