Investing in the Future

The School Meals Service continues to make improvements to our school kitchen facilities. Schools have also been making improvements by using some of the grant money provided by the government.
The investment has over the years included:
The introduction of the Zip and Steam System into a number of schools that have servery kitchens in 2009 and 2010. The Zip and Steam System allows for fresh vegtables to be bagged into pouches and then transferred to the servery kitchen. These are then cooked on site using commerical grade microwaves. This procedure prevents any loss in quality in vegetables that might otherwise occur during transort to these schools.
Sacred Heart School was piloted in 2009 and as a result of being successful has since been made available at Priory, Warberry and St Margaret Clitherow Schools.
