Queens Geen Canopy Tree Planting

The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) is a unique tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022 which invites people from across the United Kingdom to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee”.
Today our Vice-Chairperson, Councillor Richard Haddock was joined by the Town Clerk, Mrs Tracy Hallett and the Deputy Town Clerk, Ross Green for the planting of a Hawthorn tree on a previously disused plot at the Dixons Land Allotment site. The Hawthorn was chosen as the flowers will attract bees and insects and the berries are enjoyed by the birds in the Autumn/Winter.
A bench and plaque will also be put on the plot in time for the Jubilee celebrations in June.
