Road Closure
A3022 PLANNED ROAD CLOSURE
Since we first became aware, Brixham Town Council has raised its concerns with Torbay Highways, on the detrimental impact the closure of the A3022 will have on Brixham.
Working with Torbay Council we attended a liaison meeting recently which include representatives from Brixham Chamber of Commerce, South Devon College and Anthony Mangnall MP’s office.
The A3022 is on our Full Council agenda for Wednesday 2nd November, where the Council will be discussing the concerns that were highlighted at this meeting. These consist of:
• The impact on schools such as Brixham College, South Devon College and Churston Grammar School for both staff and students.
• Continued trade for businesses in Brixham including the impact to the transportation of fresh fish.
• The impact to residents and businesses should the Dartmouth Road be closed due to emergency road works or a road traffic collision, for example.
• The lack of analysis or traffic modelling of the impact that the complete road closure will have on businesses, residents, and schools.
Anthony Mangnall MP has written to Torbay Council requesting they delay their decision on the road closure until all relevant stakeholders have been engaged with and all alternative solutions have been considered. We have also written to Torbay Council to support Anthony Mangnalls’ request.
